Volkswagen Tiguan Trim Levels
If you’re searching for a spacious and dependable SUV with lots of features, then the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan may be right for you. However, with seven trim levels to choose from, you may need help deciding on the ideal version of this compact SUV.
That’s why we created this Volkswagen Tiguan trim levels guide for drivers like you throughout Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, and Harrisburg. See what each trim has to offer, then contact Faulkner Volkswagen to see them in person.
2019 Volkswagen Tiguan S
The 2019 VW Tiguan S may be the base trim, but it comes with plenty of impressive features. First is the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission (which you’ll find in every trim level of the Volkswagen Tiguan). This engine delivers 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, for plenty of highway passing power. Then, the transmission shifts smoothly and comes with a Tiptronic® mode—the latter giving you the feeling of a manual.
In addition, this trim is available with two or three rows of seats, giving plenty of room for 5-7 people. Cloth upholstery with a quilted rhombus design comes standard, for stylish and comfortable seats. There’s also Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect, making it easy to utilize your favorite mobile apps without messing with your phone while driving.
2019 VW Tiguan SE
The next trim is the Volkswagen Tiguan SE. Like the S trim, this one is available in front-wheel drive or 4MOTION® all-wheel drive (AWD). The AWD system will continuously monitor road conditions. Then, it’ll distribute power among the front and rear wheels when needed to give you optimum traction on slick surfaces.
The inside of the vehicle has changed a bit, as it now has V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces. You’ll also find Climatronic® dual-zone automatic climate control, which lets you and your co-pilot adjust the cabin temperature.
Furthermore, you’ll still find Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect. However, as the previous trim had a 6.5-inch touchscreen, this one has an 8-inch touchscreen, for a better view of all your media options.
Volkswagen Tiguan SEL
In the VW Tiguan SEL, you’ll get heated front seats, as well as a 10-way power driver’s seat. So, not only can you easily get comfortable behind the wheel, but you’ll be sure to stay cozy on even the coldest nights.
Like the SE trim, SEL comes with a trial subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. With over 100 music, news, and sports stations to choose from, you can be entertained for hours.
Also like the SE, this trim level comes with lots of driver-assisting technologies. With features like Front Assist, a Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Traffic Alert, you can be warned of any possible dangers before they occur. By always being one step ahead, you can help prevent an accident from happening.
VW Tiguan SEL R-Line & SEL Jet Black R-Line
The next two trims in the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan lineup—the SEL R-Line and SEL Jet Black R-Line—offer similar features.
One of them is a leather-wrapped steering wheel with an R-Line badge and stainless-steel pedal caps, for a sportier look and feel to the SUV. You also get Volkswagen Car-Net® Guide & Inform with a trial subscription to SiriusXM® Traffic and Travel Link®. With these high-tech features in place, you’ll get to your destination in no time at all.
The main difference between these trims has to do with the exterior design. As the name implies, the SEL Jet Black R-Line has black accents throughout. While the SEL R-Line comes with an R-Line front bumper and badging, the SEL Jet Black R-Line has that badging with black accents. Then, the SEL R-Line has silver roof rails and 19-inch twin 5-spoke alloy wheels. But in the Jet Black version, you’ll find black roof rails and black alloy wheels.
VW Tiguan SEL Premium & SEL Premium R-Line
The final two trims for the VW Tiguan are the SEL Premium and SEL Premium R-Line. They each come standard in 4-MOTION® all-wheel drive, for your peace of mind. They come with a Fender® Premium Audio System, too, for concert-quality sound in the cabin.
Like all the previous trims, these two have lots of cargo room. Plus, a 40/20/40-split folding 2nd row lets you fit larger items while still leaving room for a backseat passenger or two.
However, unlike the other trim levels, the SEL Premium and SEL Premium R-Line come with a Hands-free Easy Open and Easy Close liftgate. If your hands are full, just swipe your foot under the rear bumper. The liftgate will then automatically open, for quick and easy loading.
